Update Smart Home Ground Breakings

Building for America’s Bravest, with the help of Carpet One Floor & Home, is proud to announce three new smart homes for three different veterans are breaking ground within the next two weeks. The custom-made smart homes will help the veterans gain independence after suffering catastrophic injuries.

Marine Corps Ronny Porta

The first home will be dedicated to Ronny Porta. A native of Peru, Ronny’s life-long dream was to become a U.S. Marine. After graduating high school, Ronny enlisted and two years later on May 5th 2007, while serving in Al Asad, Iraq the Humvee he was driving struck an improvised explosive device (IED), severely burning Ronny over 35% of his body. His fellow marines and dear friends, Msgt. Kenneth Mack and Cpl. Charles Palmer II made the ultimate sacrifice that day. Ronny suffered the loss of his right arm, fingers on his left hand and facial disfigurement. He has undergone 125 surgeries to aid in his recovery.

On July 2, 2014 construction will break ground for Ronny's new, custom-made home. A special thanks to Kehne's Carpet One Floor & Home for assisting with the flooring installations for the home.

SGT Bryan Dilberian

The second home will be dedicated to SGT Bryan Dilberian. On July 1, 2011, following 24 hours of routine patrol, Brooklyn native, SGT Bryan Dilberian was critically wounded in an IED explosion.  Bryan’s best friend, PFC Jimmy Waters, was killed instantly.  As a result of his extensive injuries, Bryan lost both legs below the knee and his left arm below the elbow.  He suffered shrapnel wounds to his face and neck.  It was a miracle that he survived. On July 1, 2014 construction for Bryan's new smart home will officially begin.

SGT Adam Keys

The third home will be dedicated to Adam Keys. On July 14th, 2010 while serving a 12-month deployment in Afghanistan, SGT Adam Keys encountered a roadside bomb. As a result of the explosion, Adam suffered a brain injury, broken bones and an infection in his blood stream that resulted in the loss of both his legs and his left arm. Since the explosion, Adam has undergone well over 100 surgeries on his path to recovery.

On July 3, 2014, construction for Adam's new smart home will begin. A special thanks to Modern Carpet One Floor & Home for assisting with the installations for the home.
